Membership Information

RSF Art Guild Membership Guidelines

New applicants must fill out the following application and choose the appropriate membership category.  Two current RSF Guild members in good standing must sponsor all applicants. Each person admitted will be required to be actively involved in guild activities and events, be on a committee and adhere to the policy & procedures and our honor code.

Volunteer Members The guild considers anyone who would like to volunteer their services to the guild as a volunteer member. These members do not have to pay dues and do not have to live in the area. They also do not receive any of the membership privileges or benefits.

 

Regular Members (Artists) Regular Members (RSF Residents & Non RSF Residents) must be active practicing amateur or professional artists in the fields of visual art, sculpture, photography, and/or classical fine crafts. Regular Members have Gallery hanging privileges. All art displayed in the gallery is selected by a jury process. 

 

Regular Member RSF Resident   RSF Regular Members are those who reside in Rancho Santa Fe. Artists must submit a biography and at least three photos of their work (no slides please) with their application. Upon Board review selected artists will be contacted to set an appointment date to be juried by the Board.    The jury process will consist of a 5-10 minute interview with the RSF Art Guild Board of Directors. Artist will be notified of the Board’s decision within the week.   RSF Resident Regular Member (Must be juried) $150.00 annual dues

 

Regular Member Non RSF Resident Regular Memberships who reside outside of Rancho Santa Fe may not exceed 49% of the total active members, so membership openings depend on the current RSF Art Guild Roster. Artists must submit a biography and at least three photos of their work (no slides please) with their application. Upon Board review selected artists will be contacted for a jury date, which are typically held quarterly. Applications will be reviewed and the artists will be contacted based on application date and Art Guild membership openings.   The jury process will consist of a 5-10 minute interview with the RSF Art Guild Board of Directors. Artist will be notified of the Board’s decision within the week.   Non-RSF Resident Regular Member  (Must be juried) $150. Annual dues.

 

Regular Life Member: $5,000 one time fee, no annual membership fees. Life membership includes sitting the gallery and being on a committee. Regular members must go through the jury process and be an active member.  Regular Life Member (RSF & Non RSF Resident Must be juried) $5,000.00 one time fee.

 

Associate Member:  RSF residents who are interested in promoting the objectives of the Guild as well as the visual arts may also be admitted. There is no Gallery hanging privilege in this membership category. Spouses of Regular members or interested members living outside of RSF may be considered at the discretion of the Board. Associate Member (RSF Resident/Spouse of Regular member Not Juried) $150.00 annual dues.

 

Categories for the Jury Process: RSF Art Guild Board of Directors will make a decision on the following Jury Criteria:

· Quality of Work, Technique, and Sense of Design and Originality.

· Style - The Guild Gallery strives to maintain a variety in the mediums and

  styles of work to be displayed. We select artists working in styles and

  techniques differing from our current members work so as to maintain a

  balance in the types of work represented.

· Guild Involvement – We would like to know why the artist would like to be a member 
  and what    they can contribute to the guild.

The accepted artists will be notified by the membership chair within a week and invited to become a member. The artist will then be required to pay their annual dues (Dec to Dec) or prorated based on the month accepted. New members will receive a welcome packet that will include a Guild Directory which includes a calendar of events and committee information, handbook with policy & procedures, By-Laws, and a newsletter. The new member will be asked to sign up to sit a day with the office manager to go over the RSF Art Guild’s policy & procedures.

 

Guild Involvement: All members must be actively involved on a committee and sit in the gallery at least two (2) times per year. Members submitting artwork to any of the 6 shows per year must, during the term of that show, sit one shift per piece submitted to the gallery which will count as your obligation to sit 2 times per year. A member may choose to pay a sitter to meet their sitting obligations.
